Learning Article_Work Outside

Summer is here and like many others, you’re probably feeling the pull to get outside. With today’s technology, why not enjoy the fresh air and get work done? After all, why would we want to sit in an office, with that porch outside that is just so inviting? Here is a condensed list of tips & tricks from professional organizer Cindy Vanhoff, Owner of Reclaimed Spaces, to optimize your outdoor workspace. To see her full list, including recommendation links for a few items, please visit her wonderful blog!

First things first, we are going to need a few items to make your office portable. You’ll probably need:

  • Your laptop/tablet & charging cables
  • A notebook & pens
  • Headphones

Comfort

Being comfortable will increase your productivity. Unless you consider sitting on the ground for a few hours comfortable, you’ll probably want the following:

  • A comfortable chair
  • A small table or lap desk
  • Something to keep you cool! (a portable fan works great!)

Personal items

Depending on your space you may want to bring a few or all of the following items. The pocket of your bag, chair, or a cosmetic/ziplock bag would do the trick!

  • Sunscreen/bug repellent
  • Sunglasses
  • Hand sanitizer
  • Lip balm
  • Snacks/Water

The PNW is a wonderful area to be able to work outside through Spring, Summer, & Fall. We hope this list helps you make the most out of your outdoor workspace and you get to enjoy more of the sunshine!
